One of the key matchups of the LPD season will be at Bullitt Park this friday what is everyones thoughts. Also a good one between Lebanon and Clintwood, other than that not much on the schedule for the week. I would imagine all the Wise coaches will be in PV this weekend to scout to future opponents.

PV/Norton - hard to tell how this one is gonna shake down. PV has played a brutal schedule thus far and lord only knows what it will do for the mental part of the game. Can't be easy to play that many good teams in a row and come out 1-3 and have a lot of confidence. If it rains all week it could get interesting considered both teams like to spread the field outside the hashes. Could be a good one but I see Burton winning this one is a tight one similar to the one in 2007 at Bullitt Park. Raiders 21, PV 20

Clintwood/Lebanon - This one should be a good one for about 2 quarters but I see Clintwood pulling away in the 2nd half. Clintwood 42 Lebanon 14

JJ Kelly - There has been more buzz around Wise County about this years JJ Kelly squad than in the past 4 years combined. Are they worth the hype, time will only tell. They still really won't start their season until after the Rye Cove game when they play Lee High then play the likes of PV, Clintwood, Burton, etc.

How does everyone see it shaking down this week.

This will set the tone for how Powell Valleys season will end. If they win I think they have a great shot at the Playoffs. If they lose then the road gets even harder. I say PV wins 28 to 24

Clintwood and Lebanon will be a good game but like said in the previous post only for the first half. Clintwood should have no problem winning this one. CW 35 Leb 17. Clintwood in my opinion is the #1 team in Southwest VA.

Kelly may very well be the team to beat in Region D D2. Time will tell.

I'll be in Wise County Friday night. Hopefully my crew is in store for another good game. We haven't had a clock runner yet. As of now I have the 2nd off. Trying to decide on whether to watch the alma mater or go watch Bluefield/GC.

Must win for PV. I think there season croaked and died when Richlands beat them 19-14 in a game that PV dominated. Wouldn't be surprised at all if JIB rolled, of course if they come out and win they are back in the hunt. I told Jason 4-6, 3-7 back in August and I'm sticking to it. The fact of the matter is this, PV is just not very good.

I think Burton will win, but it should be a shootout and hard-played game to the end. I haven't personally watched Burton play yet, though, so I can't base my prediction on first-hand knowledge of seeing both teams play. I just can't wait for Friday to get here. This is do or die for Powell Valley and will really test them to see if they can pick it up or if they'll remain a losing team for the most of the remainder of the season.

I am inclined to think like pvfan. This is a must win for P.V. I would like to see P.V. pull the upset, but I just don't it happening without the Pinkston kid playing. No team should depend on a high school kid the way P.V. has with him, it is just too much pressure for him. BTW, has anyone heard how his shoulder is doing?

1st of all if Honaker wins the BDD PV will need to win the LPD to make the playoffs (on an even scaryer note Coeburn could suck up a 2nd auto bid if they win the Cumberland


2nd How bad is Pinkston? I have heard 1) Nothing is wrong with him 2) Seperated shoulder and 3) Broken Collerbone


At full strenth I think PV wins if the 1-3 start has them doubting themselfs if could be Burton by a bunch



As far as the Lebanon vs Clintwood game IMHO Lebanon has as good a D as we will see all season IF Clintwood can move the ball and put up points on them I feel good about the rest of the season............On the bad side if you are a CW fan at least Lebanon looks to be able to pass VERY well and that seems to be Clintwood weak point

I hope that some are right but I expect the Clintwood/Lebanon game to be low scoring, a one score game. Both teams defenses look pretty good. The game being where it is gives Lebanon an advantage IMO, I hope that Clintwood can overcome. The week off may give Clintwood an advantage but sometimes it seems like those weeks cause a team to come out a bit slow or sloppy.
